53 Quick and Easy Crock Pot Recipes (1)A few weeks ago one of my friends was asking me if I knew of any easy crock pot meals…easy as in, you probably have most of the ingredients on hand, and there aren’t a million things involved. I have a few that I love on my blog, so I sent her those, but then I had some major inspiration to put together a huge list of super easy crock pot meals. Don't have a crock pot? Don't worry! They are pretty affordable and definitely pay off with the time you save, and the convenience. I love this Programmable Cook and Carry 6qt. Slow Cooker53 Quick and Easy Crock Pot Recipes (2). It can hold a ton of food, and it is super easy to travel with and clean (the stoneware comes out, and is dishwasher safe!).

There are so many recipes floating around on the internet for various crock pot meals, but sometimes when you actually check one out that looks good, you see there are 30 ingredients involved, and who has time for that when you are trying to save time and be efficient in the first place by using the crock pot and cooking ahead?

That’s where this list comes in! I have put together a list of 53 super easy crock pot recipes and most have less than 5 ingredients (I am not counting spices and basic ingredients that most people have in their pantry…like flour and salt). There are several main dishes, sides, breakfast, and dessert recipes….something for everyone!

Does anyone have a good crockpot recipe for braised beef short ribs w/o wine?

Cynthia, I would try either using beef broth or red wine vinegar. You could probably leave it out all together w/o a sub if you wanted. Thanks for stopping by!

I made the Teriyaki Chicken recipe on Monday and it was DELICIOUS! My only recommendation is to double the recipe if you have a family of 4 or more. I have a 6'4 teen son along with my 17 yo daughter and husband and it wasn't really enough...so next time I will double up everything. Thanks for sharing!

Glad to hear, Suzanne! That is also a good tip about doubling! For some reason whenever I cook in the crock, I always think it's going to be an enormous amount, and then it turns out way less than I expect. I think because I am deceived by the size of the crock itself! I am happy to hear you liked the recipe though!

What is the difference between a slow cooker and a crockpot? ›

However, Crockpots generally have ceramic or porcelain pots, while most slow cookers have a metal pot. As with a lot of cooking appliances, the biggest difference comes from the distribution of heat.

What is the best meat to cook in a slow cooker? ›

Choose the right cut: Chuck roasts, short ribs, pork shoulders and lamb shanks (think fatty and tougher meats) become meltingly tender with the moist, low heat of a slow cooker. Leaner cuts like pork tenderloin tend to dry out. Likewise, dark meat chicken — thighs, drumsticks, etc.

Can you throw raw meat in a slow cooker? ›

Yes, you can totally cook raw beef in a slow cooker. Many slow-cooker chili recipes have a step for browning the beef before it goes into the Crock-Pot. While this step isn't necessary, caramelizing the meat creates richer, bolder flavors.

Is 4 hours on high the same as 8 hours on low in a slow cooker? ›

The difference between "High" and "Low" on slow cookers seems to differ with every brand and model. One thing that is consistent, though, is that food takes seven to eight hours to reach a simmer point (around 210°) on low; versus three to four hours on high.

Can I put frozen chicken in the CrockPot? ›

It is best to thaw meat or poultry before putting it into a slow cooker. Frozen pieces will take longer to reach a safe internal temperature and could possibly result in foodborne illness. Frozen or partially frozen foods can also cool everything else in the slow cooker.

What does the 4 6 8 10 mean on a crock pot? ›

Cook time options include 4 or 6 hours on HIGH, or 8 or 10 hours on LOW. The corresponding light illuminates, the slow cooker heats, and the internal timer starts counting down the time. NOTE: WARM is ONLY for keeping already cooked food at the perfect serving temperature until you are ready to eat.

What happens if you slow cook on high instead of low? ›

The only difference between the HIGH and LOW setting on a slow cooker is the amount of time it takes to reach the simmer point, or temperature at which the contents of the appliance are being cooked at. The LOW setting takes longer than the HIGH setting.

Can you put too much meat in a crock pot? ›

"When a slow cooker is too full, it may not heat the food evenly," explains Leal. As a result, some parts of the dish may overcook, while others remain undercooked. "This can also increase the risk of foodborne illness, because the food might not reach a safe temperature throughout," she says.

How do I know if my crockpot is too full? ›

Aim for between half and two-thirds full. If the cooker is too full, the food may not cook evenly and could end up being undercooked. On the other hand, if the cooker is not full enough, the food may overcook.

What size crock pot are most recipes for? ›

Most crockpot recipes are designed for a 6-quart slow cooker. This size can feed a large family a single meal or give you lots of leftovers.

What is the best meat to cook in a crock-pot?

Does cooking meat longer in a crock-pot make it more tender? ›

Your meat will be juicier and more tender

The longer cooking time and the low heat complement each other perfectly. As a result, even though the meat is cooked for far longer, it doesn't dry out because the temperature is low. As a result, this is the best way to retain all the natural juices of the meat.

Should meat or vegetables go in crockpot first? ›

Veggies first, please!

The USDA notes that vegetables take longer to cook in a crock-pot than meat does, so they suggest adding your veggies to the pot first. This is useful if you're worried about about dense vegetables like potatoes or carrots not coming out as tender as the meat in your recipe.

What does the 4 6 8 10 mean on a crock-pot? ›
