Hoewel de mob wife aesthetic met name een comeback maakte op TikTok, begon deze trend natuurlijk al een hele poos eerder. Zo begon het – zoals we net al een beetje benoemden – bij maffiafilms en -series als The Sopranos, Goodfellas en The Godfather. In deze films en series zagen we vaak hoe de mob wifes thuis bleven, maar er wel altijd piekfijn uitzagen.
Nepbontjassen, opvallende sieraden, statement zonnebrillen, tassen met grote logo’s, een uitgesproken kapsel en lange nagels. En dierenprint, natuurlijk. Héél veel dierenprint.In your face glamour, zou je het ook wel kunnen noemen, met een dikke knipoog naar de jaren tachtig en negentig.
